Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of The Spare Change Organization’s website, community forum, newsletter, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By using the Services or creating an account, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.

1. Who we are

The Spare Change Organization is a student-led nonprofit focused on mental health support and awareness for Arizona students. We are not a licensed medical or mental health provider. The Services are peer-support and informational resources, not professional care.

2. Eligibility

To create an account and participate in the forum, you must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or guardian. Students under 13 may not create an account. Accounts may require a verified email address.

3. Account and conduct

You are responsible for keeping your account secure and for activity that happens under your account. The Spare Change community is a supportive space. You agree not to:

• post content that is harassing, hateful, discriminatory, violent, or sexually explicit;
• share personal information about others without their consent;
• provide medical advice, diagnoses, or prescriptions, or discourage others from seeking professional care;
• spam, advertise, or promote unrelated products or services;
• impersonate another person or organization;
• attempt to access another user’s account or exploit the Services.

4. Content and moderation

You keep ownership of the content you post, but you grant us a limited license to host, display, and moderate it within the Services. We may edit, remove, or hide content that violates these Terms or that moderators believe could harm the community. We may suspend or terminate accounts for repeated or serious violations.

5. No professional advice

Nothing on this site is a substitute for professional mental health care, diagnosis, or treatment. If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline in the US) or dial 911 in an emergency. Always seek the advice of a qualified professional regarding any mental health or medical concerns.

6. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if required by law. Some provisions survive termination, including disclaimers and liability limits.

7. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Spare Change Organization and its volunteers, officers, and partners are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Services. The Services are provided “as is” and “as available.”

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms and update the “Last updated” date. Continued use of the Services after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
